Flat Pack and Furniture Assembly in Subiaco

Subiaco is the suburb where getting the furniture into the house is often harder than building it. Narrow driveways, verge parking limits, tight hallways in century-old cottages, and apartment buildings with their own rules. The assembly itself is rarely the problem. Access is. That is the part we plan for before we arrive.

Character homes need a different approach

Much of Subiaco is Federation and workers cottage stock, and the things that make those houses lovely are the things that get damaged during a furniture delivery. Original jarrah boards mark easily. Plaster cornices sit low. Doorways were built for a narrower era of furniture. We lay protection down before anything comes through the door, and we build in the room rather than dragging an assembled wardrobe down a hallway.

Old walls, modern fixings

Anchoring is the other character-home problem. Behind that wall might be double brick, lath and plaster, or a stud in a place no stud finder expects. A bookcase or wardrobe that is not properly secured is a genuine hazard, particularly with small children in the house. We carry fixings for every wall type we are likely to meet here and we will tell you if something cannot be safely anchored where you want it.

Apartments and parking

The newer apartment stock around the station and along Hay Street brings the usual building rules: lift bookings, service entrances, restricted delivery windows. Subiaco street parking also has real limits, and a van that has to park three streets away turns a one-hour job into two. Tell us the address and the building when you book and we will work the access out beforehand.

What we assemble in Subiaco

  • Wardrobes and bedroom storage, anchored to suit the wall type
  • Beds and bed bases, including narrow-hallway builds in the room
  • Dining tables, sideboards and display cabinets
  • Home office and study fitouts
  • Nursery furniture, cots and change tables
  • Shelving and TV units, wall fixed

Packaging goes with us

Subiaco verges are not the place to leave a mountain of cardboard, and most apartment bins will not take it. Every job includes taking the packaging away and recycling it, which is usually the part people are most relieved about.
